Help Make a Positive Change in Your Community
Morningside Neighborhood Association is one of 19 in the City of Salem. The Neighborhood Association provides a way for citizens to become involved in their city's issues, starting with their own neighborhood.
Although all of these Neighborhood Associations are recognized by and receive staff support from the City, they are self-directed. The officers of the Board are elected by their own membership.
Each association sets its own agenda and determines the course of action on the issues that come before them.
We consider the needs and concerns of the neighborhood and let the City know about them.
The Morningside Neighborhood got its name from the Morningside Addition, a large subdivision of 157 parcels that stretched from Judson Street (just south of Hoyt) to Pringle Creek beyond Oak Hill. The division was primarily from the donation land claims of Fabritus Smith and the Thomas Davidson family. Other early claims in the neighborhood included Ewald, Holman, Pringle, Strong, and Waldo.
